What is an implant?
An implant is an artificial root that replaces a lost or never developed tooth, as in the case of dental agenesis.

What is dental agenesis?
Dental agenesis is the congenital absence of teeth. It affects approximately 5% of the population, more often females than males. The teeth that do not develop most frequently are the upper lateral incisors and premolars.

Is the procedure painful?
Absolutely not, the patient is adequately anesthetized with local anesthesia that can be based on mepivacaine, articaine, lidocaine, naropin and vasoconstrictors, if necessary, possibly adding nitrous oxide or oral (oral) drugs that help sedate the patient. When advisable, surgery can be performed with the collaboration of an anesthetist in an outpatient setting for deeper, intravenous sedation, which guarantees reduced emotional involvement by the patient, a better post-operative recovery and a quicker recovery, up to general anesthesia.
